Earlier this year the Astoria Downtown Association began the process of merging Astoria Sunday Market into our operations. We are happy to announce that Shelby Meyers has joined the organization as our Market and Promotions Manager.
“I am so excited to dive into managing the Astoria Sunday Market and working with the ADHDA team.” says Meyers, “The Sunday Market is such an important and exciting event for Astoria, and I couldn’t be more honored to help keep it thriving.”
Meyers recently moved to Astoria from Eugene, Oregon where she received her Bachelor’s in Landscape Architecture and co-founded the Whiteaker Community Market, a farmers and craft market that fills a city street and park with food, art, music, and community gathering space. She is excited to bring her experience to Astoria, to make sure the Sunday Market stays strong and continues to grow.
As the Market and Promotions Manager, Meyers will manage all aspects of the Sunday Market. She is enthusiastic about local food systems and envisions strengthening the local food community through the market. In this position, Meyers will also be working with the Promotions Committee on other downtown marketing and events throughout the year, including the upcoming Downtown Holiday Campaigns.
ADHDA is excited about this opportunity to build on important connections between downtown businesses and the market. The organization aims to bring the market back to its full footprint in the 2021 season, with continued appropriate safety and social distancing measures in place. We anticipate the season opening to be Mother’s Day, and the Astoria Sunday Market will run every Sunday 10a-3p through the second weekend of October.
